Ramadan is a holy month of fasting observed by many Muslims in the United Kingdom. As one of the five pillars of Islam, fasting during Ramadan is a form of worship of utmost importance. Among the many positive attributes Muslims aspire to develop during this period, empathy with those less fortunate and a reinforcement of positive, proactive community engagement stand out the most, especially as the Office of National Statistics show that the cost-of-living crisis has impacted 92% of adults in the United Kingdom.

So, this year, under “Ramadan is Community”, we aimed to foster community dialogue. Through utilising the several faith festivities that will coincide with one other (Ramadan, Easter, Navaratri, Mahavir Jayanti, Passover, and Vaisakhi), we hope to bring our diverse communities together to both celebrate and spark dialogue on how to further promote inclusion, diversity, and equalities.
