Inspired by the word ‘Iftar’– a fast-breaking meal, IftarMe involves volunteer families preparing delicious meals for their guests at iftar, with whom they will then share the fast-breaking experience. The event will include the ‘adhan’ (the Muslim call to prayer) being recited, the breaking of the fast with water and dates, followed by a delicious homemade meal enjoyed with a Muslim family. An Iftar meal is a unique moment of togetherness.
Initiated by the Dialogue Society, a registered charity, that has over 20 years of experience in organising inter-faith Iftars, throughout the UK, IftarMe is a project anticipated to take this one step further, bringing dialogue into our own homes, promoting a positive influence in our local communities.
IftarME is inviting everyone to come together, enjoy good conversation and end their day with a delicious meal. Through this, we hope to strengthen ties and build resilience between different communities in the UK.
So "How can I participate?" I hear you ask!
Invitation is at no cost whatsoever, and open to EVERYONE. IftarMe is a space for inclusivity, and we invite people from all walks of life. If you would like to join, please fill in the form on the website and we will put you in touch with a host family that will warmly welcome you!
